James Beckloff was born in 1933 during the deep economic depression in the U.S. to poor farmers. His family was members of two different denominations until they finally found the church of Christ. James was baptized into Christ when he was 14 years of age. He graduated from secondary school in 1951 and from David Lipscomb University with a BA Degree in 1957.
James married his wife, Ileta in 1960. Three children were born to this marriage: Risa, Kent and Brenda. During these years, James also obtained his MA Degree in 1964 from Kean College by attending evening sessions. His degree in school administration and supervision in 1964 moved him from teaching in the classroom to a principal in 1965.
James was involved in evangelistic and leadership campaign in Ukraine (3 times), Kenya and Zambia. James taught one semester in Nigeria in 1996 and with his wife at NCBC during the spring semester of 1999. The Beckloffs were invited to assist in the establishment of WNCC in 1999. Their teaching qualifications and experiences were needed at this new school. He served as the Registrar from 1999-2005.
